Exercise and PD


Exercise has neuroprotective effects for People with Parkinson's. Exercise can help manage symptoms and may slow the progression of PD. The best exercise is the one you are committed to doing on a consistent basis. Dancing, boxing, pole walking, tai chi, and water aquatics all have their adherents. Most important is what YOU will do on a consistent basis. 

The benefits of exercise include:

Reduced motor symptoms, improving bradykinesia, and postural instability
Enhances the efficacy of levodopa therapy
Improves heart and lung capacity
Improves endurance
Improves gait disturbances
Improves cognitive function
Improves quality of life
